Overview
What OWS is built for
OWS was developed to support practical options trading workflows. Whether it is the current VIX term structure curve or a stock scanner for the In the money (ITM) Covered Call strategy, the goal is to reduce friction and make the work easier.
It also includes a 0DTE automated trader that can launch trades with predefined criteria including S/L. This can be tested without limit in both demo and live accounts.
Important: live data, scanners, and order functions require an active TWS (Trader Workstation) with API access enabled. The IB Statement Summary Helper is the exception and works independently.
ITM Covered Call Scanner
The scanner searches for stocks and ETFs suitable for the ITM covered call strategy. The goal is not just a high option premium, but a cleaner mix of return, distance, liquidity, and realistic assignment risk.
- Universes Scan lists such as S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, DAX, and EURO STOXX 50.
- Use case Pre-sort candidates faster instead of checking each option chain manually.
- Output The heatmap helps evaluate return, distance, and opportunity profile visually.
0DTE Auto Trade Scanner
The 0DTE Auto Trade Scanner monitors predefined market conditions and can derive setups such as bull put spreads, bear call spreads, or iron condors. The idea is to define rules first instead of clicking around hectically in the chart.
- Focus 0DTE index options with clear entry criteria.
- Risk logic Trades can be prepared with stop-loss logic.
- Mode Demo and live accounts are possible if TWS/API are active.
Option Omega Backtest Heatmap
The heatmap automates parameter sweeps for existing Option Omega backtests. Instead of manually testing take profit, DTE, or weekdays one by one, up to two parameters can be tested systematically and displayed as a matrix.
- Examples Take profit 10%, 20%, 30% against different DTE values.
- Goal Evaluate robustness, not just the most attractive single backtest.
- Requirement An existing strategy and an Option Omega subscription.
Autotrades
The autotrade area is built for controlled execution of prepared trades. Automation does not mean blind trading: rules, limits, and stops need to be defined before the trade is sent.
- Execution Orders are routed through the active TWS/API connection.
- Control Position size, stop-loss, and setup type remain central levers.
- Practice Test in the paper account before using live capital.
Performance Report
The Performance Report condenses trading data into the metrics that matter in daily work: result, drawdown, win rate, development over time, and strategy context.
- Goal See faster which setups work and where risk is created.
- Benefit Less spreadsheet chaos, more usable trading history.
- Note Performance reporting does not replace your own plausibility checks.
IB Statement Summary Helper
The IB Statement Summary Helper is the only feature that works independently of TWS. It converts the long report CSV into a compact summary with the relevant performance data and even a suggested structure for tax filing.
This is provided strictly without guarantee and should be used with great caution.
The screenshot below shows an example extract. The conversion takes less than 1 second after pressing the button.
VIX Term Structure Curve
The VIX term structure curve shows the shape of VIX futures and whether the market is trading in contango, flat structure, or backwardation. For options traders, it is a fast read on stress, hedge pricing, and possible regime changes.
- Contango Often a calmer environment with a normal term structure.
- Backwardation Stress signal, often linked to elevated short-term volatility.
- Use case Helps decide whether premium selling, hedging, or defensive strategies fit better.
